Ever heard of the Untold festival? It may not have nearly as much name recogition as Tomorrowland or EDC, but it's definitely on the same level when it comes to all the artists they bring here. Ten stages covering I don't know how many subgenres, and a lineup including David Guetta, Armin van Buurin, Martin Garrix, Paul Kalkbrenner, Kungs, Nora en Pure, Nero, and a ton of others, but being in Romania it's way cheaper. I think my weekend pass cost me less than 200€. Of course, you still gotta pay for transportation to Cluj, and for a ho(s)tel (there's no camping)...but even so, if you go to Untold you're still going to be paying much less for the experience than for a festival with the same lineup in a richer country. And unlike Tomorrowland, in which each "weekend" is three days which always end at midnight, Untold lasts four days and the "nights" don't end until six the next morning.

Looking back at Tomorrowland now that it's over, I had a few thoughts that deserved to be shared. I mentioned before that there was a lot of support for the event from the local community, evidenced by all the Tomorrowland flags hanging everywhere. This was a real pleasant surprise after the ambivalence I've seen between other small-town fests and the people who live nearby. Back in Texas, Float Fest got almost-cancelled and saved at the last minute two years in a row, while Middle Lands only happened once because the people of Todd Mission, TX wouldn't tolerate any more drunk/stoned/[fill in the blank] outsiders tearing up their town. Tomorrowland was the opposite of that in every way.

As usual, the bus was leaving at noon, but I woke up much earlier with a few hours to spare. Today would be my last chance to check out Train World, which I did. I was able to get through it in an hour and a half, but if you take it slowly and make sure you see everything, you could easily spend two hours in it. I think the price of admission was 12€ or something close to that.
Train World is a huge museum dedicated to the history of rail travel in Europe. There are four huge halls dedicated to different eras, in which they have several authentic train cars which you can walk into and look around. I am a big rail fan so I knew I'd have to check this place out at some point during the trip.

Saturday, July 20, 2019. After the usual breakfast at the hostel, the first thing I did was walk over to a small produce market/convenience store across the street to get some fruit and vegetables for the next couple days. Just one way I try to be good to my body at this massive party while not being good to it in other ways (like all the alcohol consumption). One item I got there was a rather large cucumber. Later, while everyone was boarding the bus, there was a Tomorrowland photographer there who got a humorous picture of me taking a bite out of the cucumber. I still have yet to see this photo.
Everyone loaded onto the bus which took off at 13h00 (or "1 pm" as we Anglophones would write it) for another 40-minute ride to Boom. Getting in was just like the previous day, except THIS time I got sniffed by a drug dog while waiting in line to get a locker.
